Shirodhara is a part of Panchakrma treatments technique from Ayurveda medicine. It is one of the most popular Ayurvedic Therapies in India that has greatly benefited those who had the opportunity to undergo them. The name comes from the Sanskrit world, the word ”Shras” meaning head, the word “Dhara” means continuous poring of medicated liquid over the forehead (third eye). It was developed by Vaidyas (practitioner of Ayurveda) in Kerala, India for use in sukhachikitsha (restorative therapy).

In the Ayurvedic therapy of Shirodhara, liquid containing ingredients like herbal oils, medicated milk, and medicated butter are applied on the forehead (third eye) of the individual in a certain manner.
